The flight coming in was uneventful- I took off from NY at around 9pm and landed in Dublin at 8:30 am. I lost a whole nights sleep which was very tough! Between that and the constant motion sickness, the first day and a half were not the best for me. However, after all of that, everything has been so great. I met with two ambassadors and Dr. Tim at the Dublin airport, where we went for coffee and made the two hour trip to Downpatrick. When we made it to the quiet little cottage on a hill in Downpatrick, where we would be staying throughout our trip, we were met with another ambassador. The four of us, along with Dr. Tim as our chauffeur and tour guide, went out to get a few things at the grocery store. After that, we took a tour of the beautiful Saint Patrick Center in Downpatrick, where we went through the Saint Patrick exhibit and got some lunch at the cafe upstairs.
After doing all that and only running on an hour sleep, I was grateful to head back to the house for the night. We got back and Michael, one of the ambassadors, made us all pasta and chicken for dinner. After that, it was time to sleep for 12 hours, which I did happily. It was a great first day and introduction to Northern Ireland!
